The classic international sensation is back! Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and its sequel But Gentlemen Marry Brunettes are Anita Loos’ witty comedies of manners, following the misadventures of Lorelei Lee, a charmingly naïve blonde who turns male admiration into jewels, and her clever brunette friend, Dorothy Shaw.

Lorelei’s quest for wealth takes her from New York to Paris, while Dorothy proves that wit rivals beauty in the pursuit of success. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes became a runaway bestseller in 1926, inspiring various adaptations, including the iconic 1953 film starring Marilyn Monroe.

Loos followed up with But Gentlemen Marry Brunettes in 1927, which also became a film in 1955. Together, these novels offer a satirical glimpse into the Roaring Twenties, humorously exploring whether gentlemen truly prefer blondes or marry brunettes–an idea that still resonates today.
