The first three novels from comic master P.G. Wodehouse’s saga of Blandings Castle and its fluffy-minded proprietor, Lord Emsworth. Beginning with two impecunious young American exiles infiltrating Blandings in the guise of servants, to recover the gem of Mr J Preston Peters’ scarab collection from the Blandings museum. Then, the immaculate Psmith, borrowing the identity of an absconded Canadian poet, checks into Blandings in amiable pursuit of Eve Halliday, and becomes embroiled in a diamond heist. And finally, sundered hearts stalk the castle, as his lordship’s disreputable brother, the Hon Galahad Threepwood, completes his scandalous memoirs, and Lord Emsworth’s beloved prize pig, Empress of Blandings, is dramatically kidnapped!

Margaret is The Other Dashwood Sister, the youngest of the three Dashwood girls whose older sisters’ love affairs were chronicled in Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility”. In that classic tale, 13-year-old Margaret was merely an observer of the household drama; in 1929, Austen’s great-great-niece, Edith Hubback Brown, took up her pen to move the story ahead four years and place Margaret center stage.

Life at Barton Cottage with her mother is quiet, which suits Margaret. Their days are varied by visits to Elinor’s and Marianne’s homes as well as to Norland Park, where her brother John and his wife Fanny live and where Margaret grew up. Her shy nature is somewhat plagued by the interference of her loquacious neighbors, Sir John Middleton and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jennings, who are determined to tease and ferret out any hints of Margaret’s love interests.

Even Margaret’s brother John has plans to promote a marriage between her and the new, somewhat obnoxious clergyman, Mr. Atherton. But Margaret has met a handsome naval officer on several walks that no one knows anything about. She prefers to have it remain so.

Of course, Elinor and Marianne, when made aware of this possible attachment, are determined to involve themselves. Elinor, ever wary, wonders if he can be trusted. Marianne, with all the romantic feelings of her nature, is vastly interested and encouraging.

How Margaret manages all this interference from friends and family while questioning her own heart is the story. Commander Pennington has set sail and has been away for months. How does she feel about him, and how does he feel about her? All questions are resolved by the very clever Mrs. Brown, who has successfully adapted her great-great-aunt’s style.

In the 1800’s an author that was simply known as A.L.O.E (A Lady of England) was well-loved and a best-selling author. This is story of shipwreck, adventure, and redemption. Everything hinges on the trustworthiness of young Reginald. A short story for all ages that should leave you smiling and longing for someone like Reginald that you could claim as a friend. Narrated by Glenn Hascall.

A company of Huns in East Africa targets the famous Tarzan of the Apes to be captured as a prisoner of war. Savage lions, a lost city, madmen, Huns and an aeroplane play important parts in this potboiler by the master of adventure.

A woman tells her story of an encounter with a ghost in a deserted old lodging house in the middle of London years ago. She was told that a woman had been murdered there before she agreed as a “psychical researcher” to spend a night in the old building. Her expectations are challenged in this psychological ghost story. Algernon Blackwood wrote over 200 ghost stories as well as being a novelist, playwright, and a writer of nonfiction and children’s stories. His ghost stories fall into what is usually called weird fiction.

The speckled hen laid twelve eggs in her hidden nest at the top of the hay pile in the barn and the very last one, whom she called Humpty Dumpty, was the largest of all. The nest was very crowded and so the eggs began kicking each other to get more space for themselves. Humpty Dumpty, being on the very edge of the next, was kicked completely out and then decided to look about the wide world to see what he could see. You will need to listen to this story to know what happens next but I assure you it is very exciting and involves a beautiful princess and a king and a happy marriage not to mention the king’s horses. And Humpty was involved in all of it!

Ivy and Mac are on the road, headed for their long-delayed honeymoon. Baja! Beaches! Romance and shrimp tacos and sunshine!

But then comes a panicky phone call from good friend Magnolia, who is, as usual, looking into her complicated family genealogy. What she’s found this time is not another fourth-cousin-three-times-removed, but a dead body in the middle of a desert town.

Except that this body, unlike the dead bodies with which Ivy has had past experience, has vanished. Magnolia is uncertain if she made a foolish mistake about there ever being a body, or if something sinister is going on. Sinister as in murder.

Mac and Ivy figure a brief side trip to Prosperity, Arizona, to help their old friend won’t take long, but when they arrive, they find complications.

In addition to the missing body, there’s an old cowboy trying to revive a faded western-movie career, a possible blackmailing, and a two-million-dollar insurance policy. Also an ex-model writing the Great American Novel, her artist boyfriend, gloomy about his surprising success as a painter of desert roadrunners, and a hungry roadrunner named Harry.

And somewhere in the desert scene, there’s also a killer, now determined to put Ivy and Mac into the category of the missing dead.

Join Ivy and Mac for another lighthearted adventure through mayhem and danger in this third book in the Mac ‘n’ Ivy Mysteries series.

In The Epic of Gilgamesh A Modern Narrative in Two Volumes, I bring the 4,000-year-old Mesopotamian epic to life in clear, contemporary English–crafted from the ground up to work both as a Kindle ebook and as a fully produced audiobook.

Volume I – The Heroic Deeds

Meet Gilgamesh, the powerful and reckless king of Uruk, and Enkidu, the wild man created by the gods to challenge him. Their first clash becomes one of the great friendships in world literature. Together they journey to the Cedar Forest, confront the monstrous guardian Humbaba, and defy the goddess Ishtar by slaying the Bull of Heaven.

Volume II – The Search for Immortality

Glory has a cost. After Enkidu’s death, Gilgamesh is shattered and terrified of his own end. His grief drives him on a journey far beyond his city’s walls–through deserts and mountains, past scorpion-guarded gates and the dark road of the sun–to Utnapishtim, the man who survived the great flood and was granted a different kind of life. What he discovers is not a magic escape from death, but a hard truth about how we live knowing we must die.

This edition:

Retells the complete epic in fresh, modern prose–no academic jargon, no footnotes.

Keeps the classic “tablet” structure as chapters for easy reading and listening.

Includes both volumes in one continuous story: The Heroic Deeds and The Search for Immortality

In Edith Wharton’s 1928 masterpiece, The Children, the jazz-age glamour of the European Riviera masks a poignant and chaotic reality.

Martin Boyne, a midlife bachelor seeking a quiet reunion with a lost love, finds his world upended when he encounters the seven Wheater children. Products of their wealthy parents’ endless cycle of divorce and remarriage, the siblings are led by the fiercely protective fifteen-year-old Judith. Bound by a pact never to be separated, the children cling to one another as the only stable force in a world of fleeting whims and neglected duties.

Wharton masterfully balances sharp social satire with deep emotional resonance, exploring the collateral damage of modern marriage and the bittersweet loss of innocence. As Boyne becomes the children’s unlikely champion, he is forced to choose between the orderly life he planned and the messy, heartbreaking devotion of a family he never expected to claim.

A hauntingly modern classic, The Children is a powerful testament to loyalty and the enduring need for a place to call home.

Constance Wetherill’s world has collapsed. The young socialite has discovered that her late uncle has squandered the family fortune, and she is left with $5000 and the care of her elderly grandmother.

Having no experience in the world of work, Constance takes a chance. In an out-of-the-way town, far away from anyone she knows, she finds a rambling house with cheap rent where she hopes to open a tea room.

Is the place haunted? The townspeople think so because there have been sightings of a lady in white roaming the house and grounds. A young boy and the local minister help Constance dispel the fears. But the neighborhood bootlegger has other ideas….

Henry David Thoreau is known as a naturalist, a philosopher, and a leading Transcendentalist. But he was also an ardent abolitionist and political activist. He was a conductor on the Underground Railroad, helping fugitive slaves escape to freedom. He was the first to speak out, loudly and passionately, in support of John Brown after Brown’s raid on Harper’s Ferry. He wrote and spoke with unequaled clarity and strength on subjects as varied as slavery, war, taxation and government, history, law, technology, commerce, religion, and the press. He examined how we are to live in this world and with each other. These works are written with singular drive and immediacy, and are surprisingly and extraordinarily relevant.
