Definitions

Exclusive Distribution - Your audiobook is sold exclusively through the Audible ecosystem: Audible, Amazon, and Apple (iTunes/Apple Books). In return for that exclusivity, you receive a larger royalty per sale.

Non-Exclusive Distribution - You reserve the right to sell both physical and digital copies of your audiobook anywhere you like in addition to distribution through Spoken Realms. This can include but is not limited to your own website, conferences, and stores that don't typically carry audiobooks.

Audiobook Platforms Everywhere - We work with major distributors to make your audiobook available wherever audiobooks are sold worldwide. When a package says Selling: Audiobook Platforms Everywhere, your audiobook is distributed broadly to retail, library, and other sales channels. When it says Streaming: Audiobook Platforms Everywhere, it is also distributed to eligible streaming and subscription platforms. If a new outlet isn't part of our distribution network yet, we work to add it as soon as possible.

Digital Royalties - Payment for sales, rentals, and streaming of digital files of your audiobook.

Physical (CD) Royalties - Payment for sales of retail, trade, and library editions of your audiobook.

Flexible Royalty Share Options - Unlike ACX's standard 50/50 Royalty Share, Spoken Realms can divide royalties among more than two participants and accommodate custom splits, including multiple narrators, co-authors, and other rights participants.

Opt In/Out of Streaming Quarterly - Once per quarter, you can choose whether streaming is the best fit for your audiobook and opt in or out accordingly. Changing your streaming participation does not change your package's sales distribution. Unlike ACX, Spoken Realms gives Rights Holders control over whether their content participates in streaming.

No Geographical Restrictions - Unlike ACX, Rights Holders and Narrators are not limited to the United States, Canada, Ireland, or the United Kingdom. They can live anywhere in the world as long as they have a PayPal account.

Social Hub - Our community and engagement platform gives creators a place to connect directly with listeners, build an audience, share related or in-universe material, and support ongoing engagement around their work.

Set Your Own Price - For audiobook sales through our Social Hub, you can set your own price.

Pay What You Want - For audiobook sales through our Social Hub, you can allow listeners to choose how much they want to pay.

Free Promotional Codes - Enhanced and Everywhere projects come with 50 codes redeemable for audiobook rentals at Downpour. Use these to help promote your work.

  • Per Finished Hour, Royalty Share, and Hybrid deals of any configuration are all allowed on all projects.
  • CDs are available to the Content Owner at a reduced cost. Short runs of nearly any size are available.
  • Contracts are created per project. The rights are retained by the Content Owner and/or the Narrator.
